Cindy’s Fourth Anniversary Poem

  • September 20, 2011 at 5:50 pm

Our fourth anniversary will arrive on September 16th, 2011. What to get? how to celebrate? I’m really not sure yet, because I’ve procrastinated once again But one thing I know for sure: Material gifts, although nice, are fleeting; so in addition, you must find a way to express the true love that’s in your heart (And no, I’m not trying to get out of buying an anniversary gift). To that end, I wanted to use my creativity, and I decided to write a poem. Although poem writing might seem daunting, I had one good thing going for me: I had done it once before. Last February I wrote a Valentine’s Day poem for my wife, and she loved it so, I thought I’d try again. Words and rhyming phrases didn’t come easily this time, but-after a few failed attempts-I created something I think she’ll love. At least I hope so Here it is:

A Fourth Anniversary Poem

Four years have passed since first we wed,
Sealing our vows with a kiss.
With friends and family gathered ’round,
To celebrate our bliss.

Not gold nor silver, even wood,
Tradition says is fitting.
But no tradition ever found,
A gift to do my bidding.

For I found a gem, my lovely wife,
More precious than the rest.
And every year that she is mine,
Will always be my best.

So love of mine, my love so fair,
Let’s celebrate our fourth.
Renew our love, renew our vows,
With passion, zeal and warmth.

No lucky man, alive today,
Could ever wish for more.
I love you dear, on this our fourth,
I will forever more

Well, I really hope she loves it, because it expresses exactly how I feel my wife Cindy is my soul mate, and she brightens my spirit every day. Now, about that material gift.

Ex-homeless teenager on quest to care

  • September 20, 2011 at 1:11 pm

The 8-year-old boy wanted a plastic action figure toy.

“Not a PS3, or an iPad or the latest phone,” Rusty Boruff saidof the unaccompanied, unbathed and apparently homeless child heencountered in the thrift store basement of Davenport’s King’sHarvest Ministries on a Saturday morning earlier this year. “Justan action figure.”

“I took him to the toy section, which had already beenplundered,” said Boruff, a 24-year-old native of Aledo, Ill., witha homeless history of his own. “He didn’t find anything, and thelook of his disappointment cut deep into me. this kid didn’t choosehis lifestyle. He was a victim of it. and all he wanted thatmorning was an action figure.”

Boruff said his heart breaks daily from

similar encounters, yet he forges ahead undeterred along thefrontline of the fight to help less fortunate Quad-Citians.

Friction at home caused by his involvement with drugs andalcohol forced the former Aledo High School golfer to make a homeof his van at age 18. and soon after he resorted to burglary tofund a Valentine’s Day date, Boruff said his home was a jail cellfor nine months.

There, he said he found God in the person of a 90-year-oldChristian who took the time to visit.

“He wasn’t the most exciting preacher in the world,” Boruffrecalled. “He would even fall asleep during his own sermons. But itshowed me that someone cared.”

In that cell, Boruff, then 20, decided he someday would becomethat caring someone.

Within two months of his release, he said, “I was backministering in those jails.”

The 12-bed home is a privately funded residential shelter forhomeless adult males, many fighting addictions, many fresh out ofjail. it is where Boruff, a single father, sleeps most nights, butit is only one front in his ongoing fight to bring comfort and toshow his faith to Quad-Citians who need a home, a meal or a friend,he said.

Working out of an office at the Moline church and drawing asalary from a shoestring budget of between $60,000 and $70,000 thatalso funds the 180 Zone, Boruff has devised a multi-facetedoutreach program. it is staffed by a corps of 200 to 250 volunteersculled from a base of 10 Quad-City churches.

Boruff and his volunteers distribute donated clothes and hygieneitems monthly at King’s Harvest and regularly minister in jails inand around the Quad-Cities. they serve a twice-monthly Dinner onthe River meal at LeClaire Park in Davenport as weather permits andreach out to homeless and at-risk teens during visits to theCentennial Park skatepark near the Centennial Bridge in Davenportand elsewhere.

“Rusty is a force unto himself,” said Mike Weingartz, athird-year Calvary member from Clinton, Iowa. “He’s got ananointing from God that I have seen in few people. He’s 24 yearsold, but he has got an old soul. He seems to be able to get thingsdone. People follow him.”

Boruff said he found his way out of what felt like a hopelesssituation only after being welcomed back into his mother’s home. Hecannot forget watching a teenage girl with no such option walk outof a Quad-City hotel room and step into a car with a stranger inwhat Boruff felt certain was an act of prostitution a few yearsback.

“I could tell she was doing what she had to do to have a placeto stay,” he said. “I remember looking into that girl’s eyes. Shedidn’t say anything, but her eyes told the whole story. they werescreaming for help.”

Like his recent encounter with the 8-year-old boy, that memorywon’t soon go away. Boruff doesn’t care to let it go.

“You ask me how my heart doesn’t break?” he said. “It does.Every day. But it motivates me to make a difference in ourcommunity. It’s not about recognition or money. It’s about lovingpeople to life and sharing the hope of Jesus.

“Last week, there was a homeless kid, maybe 9. He said he lovedmy necklace. I ended up giving it to him, and you would havethought by his smile I gave him a million bucks. It’s moments likethat that inspire me, the ministry, the group around me, to keepgoing forward.”

Valentine’s Day can be looked at in 1 of 2 ways and it is totally up to you how you decide you wish to approach Valentine’s Day.

Why not take a read of this ebook and make Valentine’s Day the year you planed and succeeded to make your significant other know and feel how truly special they are to you and how much you really do love them.

The contents of this book can be used for years to come whether this is your very 1st Valentines with your partner, 7th or 31st whatever it is, don’t make the mistake like so many countless others do and not bother to show how your mind and heart is feeling towards that very special person in your life.

Cynics say that Valentine’s Day is a fallacy invented by the greeting cards industry to increase our overdraft, just in case the Christmas credit card bill is starting to subside. Arguably the worst thing about Valentine’s Day is hitting the shops, usually at the last minute, to join everyone else in a manic search for a tasteful gift. If the thought of NYC or Oxford Street on 13 February makes you feel ill then why not sort out your Valentine’s Day gifts by shopping online this year.

Please just make sure you do, do something and don’t fall into the trap of thinking there’s always next year, as that year may never come back again.

CrunchGear’s Valentine’s Day Gift Guide: Gifts For Girls

  • September 19, 2011 at 8:50 pm

With Valentine’s Day fast approaching it’s time to start thinking about the dreaded gift for the gal in your life. Even if you think Valentine’s Day is a Hallmark holiday designed to rake in millions of dollars in cash – it is – so you better get used to it because your lady friend still expects a gift.

You could get her flowers, candy, or maybe a fondue set, but let’s be honest; your more interesting and intelligent girl doesn’t really want any of that. she just wants something sweet, because it’s the thought that counts, right? Scratch that, she wants something cool she can show off to her friends. with all the techy toys that 2011 brought, you guys should have no problem finding something your geek girl will love.

Incidentally, we’re holding a contest for one lucky lad, so pop over here to enter. She’s a Candy Lover

Heart-shaped boxes of chocolate are sooo passé, which is why wifey expectssomething sweet yet surprisingly different. Why not try a box of sushi candy? Straight from Japan, this candy set combines creativity and cholesterol with a DIY set of powders and gels that react together to create what looks like real sushi. In fact, it’s sushi candy! if feeding her sushi is instant grounds for dumpage, maybe you could show her how much you love human anatomy with a realistic gummy heart only a true science nerd could appreciate.

She Thinks Flowers Are FantasticIf your boo thinks flowers are great but always gripes about how fast they die, then perhaps you want to get her the 8-Bit Flower Bouquet. She’ll be the envy of her office as this plastic bouquet sits on her desk year round to make co-workers jealous and remind her how awesome and thoughtful her guy is. Because every Princess needs a Mario! Plus, it never needs watering.

Diamonds, Dude.

Like most girls, your chick probably likes diamonds. Sigh. That said, maybe your relationship isn’t at the diamond level, or maybe you just can’t fork over your whole salary for a shiny rock. For us techy girls, there is another way. although it pains me to say it, maybe instead of Tiffany’s you can get her an equally thoughtful but much less expensive piece of jewelry that shows your love and her true geekiness in one shiny package. Maybe she needs a Lego heart necklace, some Internet-inspired <3 earrings, or a circuit board necklace.

She’s a Gadget GirlIf your girlfriend can’t be bothered with the traditional gifts or the geeky trinkets, perhaps it’s time to pull out the big guns: this year’s best electronics. but you can still stay in line with the Valentine’s Day theme by getting her the red version of whatever gadget you choose to pronounce your lurrrrve. our favorites include the red Sony Vaio YS1SFX laptop and the equally red Panasonic Lumix DMC-G2R digital camera for capturing all those Valentine’s Day memories. and clearly you can’t go wrong with the new red iPod Nano 4th generation or even the pink one, why not.

She’s into the “Other Kind” of GadgetsI wouldn’t recommend this gift for just anyone, but if you applied some extra Coolwater aftershave today and can handle a potential slap in the face, then why not get your girl an adult gift? It’s pretty much the gift that keeps on giving for both of you. The tried and true wireless OhMiBod Freestyle vibrator (NSFW) is an excellent choice because it syncs up with your iPod and vibrates to the beat. a classic! if that’s not love then I don’t know what is. Or maybe she needs something more visual like Fyre TV’s Fyre BoXXX (NSFW). this Internet TV box is free but offers up to 20,000 DVD quality adult films straight to your living room for around $9 bucks a month. a small price to pay for unlimited streaming porn, and it is Valentine’s Day after all. The BoXXX is kind of like the X-rated version of like the Boxee, the popular set-top Internet TV box, only porn-y-er.

She’s an ExIf you’re sitting at home alone this Valentine’s Day in your boxers with a half-eaten box of chocolates on the floor, then maybe it’s time for some sweet karmic retribution delivered straight to your ex’s office. Maybe she needs some Bittersweet Candy Hearts. each of the collections (Dejected, Dysfunctional, and Dumped) offer comforting words for the dumped and desperate like, “CELEB8 THX2U,” “PURE NAUSEA,” and “MUTUAL DISGUST.” The sweets plus a box of plush STD microbes ranging from Herpes, Chlamydia, and Kissing Disease to HPV, should do the trick. just make sure you take out the Penicillin plush doll before you send this VD Day.

And for you there’s always the Anti-Valentine’s Day Sound App for iPhone to drown out the sound of smooching couples and help soothe your self-loathing. Or you could just get the heart inspired ice luge to drink the pain away.

Remember guys, Valentine’s Day is all about sharing and caring. so get those wallets out and start showing how much you care about the geeky fox in your life!

NYC-based guest columnist Lydia Leavitt is a video blogger at aroundthe.net and journalist contributing to TG DailyTechEye and Pocket-Lint toname a few. I Love You-Will You be My Valentine?

  • September 19, 2011 at 6:30 pm

I love you is a sweetest one liner.we all likes to listen.not only once in a year but everyday. Though there should not be any particular occasion or time for one to express his or her love to any person whom they love.it should be often and regular, but how many of us really understand the meaning and importance of love. People across the globe.we all love to be loved by others.by our parents, by our friends and by that Special person of our life. Often we don’t understand the importance of love.feelings and emotions. there is a misconception that your love for that special person starts from bedroom.

To start with.why does one love? Is it to find an escape from the pains of loneliness or is it to feel the warmth of fulfillment that it brings to one’s heart? To me, love is the essential of all being. one cannot exist without the love of another. To live for another makes a life complete in every way. Each beat of one’s heart, each breath, each small thought signifies a Small part of a love that is shared with another.

Who does one love? Are two people destined to come together or is it by chance alone? Only one’s heart can tell when love has come. It can feel the longing desire from its deepest point and it can feel the overpowering attraction when they are close. one loves whom his heart has chosen.

When does one love? does one share their love in the soft mist of the early morning or in the crisp breeze of the darkening night? Those that are truly in love know no night or day, no dark or light. love is a continuous thing.

So, if you find yourself in love with someone who does not love you, be gentle with yourself. there is nothing wrong with you. love just didn’t choose to rest in the other person’s heart.

And if you find someone else in love with you and you don’t love him/her, feel honored that love came and called at your door, but gently refuse the gift you cannot return. Do not take advantage. Do not cause pain. how you deal with love is how you deal with you, and all our hearts feel the same pains and joys, even if our lives and ways are different.

And if you fall in love with someone, he/she falls in love with you and then love chooses to leave, do not try to reclaim it or to assess blame, let it go. there is a reason and there is a meaning. You will know in time. Remember that you don’t choose love. love chooses you. all you can really do is accept it for all its mystery when it comes into your life.

Feel the way it fills you to overflowing, then reach out and give it away. Give it back to the person who brought it alive in you. Give it to others who deem it poor in spirit. Give it to the world around you in any way you can. there is where many lovers go wrong. having been so long without love, they understand love only as a need. They see their hearts as empty places that will be filled by love, and they begin to look at love as something that flows to them Rather than from them.

The first blush of new love is filled to overflowing, but as their love cools, they revert to seeing their love as need. They cease to be someone who generates love and instead become someone who seeks love. They forget that the secret of love is that it is a gift, and that it can be made to grow only by giving it away.

Remember this, and keep it to your heart. love has its own time, its own seasons, and its own reason for coming and going. You cannot bribe it or coerce it, or reason it into saying. You can only embrace it when it arrives and give it away when it comes to you. but if it chooses to leave from your heart or from the heart of your lover, there is nothing you can do and there is nothing you should do.

Love always has been and always will be a mystery. be glad that it came to live for a moment in your life. IF YOU KEEP YOUR HEART OPEN, IT WILL COME AGAIN.

In the third century, the Roman Empire was ruled by Emperor Claudius II Gothicus. He was nicknamed Claudius the Cruel because of his harsh leadership and his tendency for getting into wars and abusing his people. in fact, he was getting into so many wars during the third century that he was having a difficult time recruiting enough soldiers.

Claudius believed that recruitment for the army was down because Roman men did not want to leave their loves or families behind, so he canceled all marriages and engagements in Rome. Thousands of couples saw their hopes of matrimony dashed by the single act of a tyrant. And no one seemed interested in standing up to the emperor.

But a simple Christian priest named Valentine did come forward and stood up for love. He began to secretly marry soldiers before they went off to war, despite the emperor’s orders. in 269 AD Emperor Claudius found out about the secret ceremonies. He had Valentine thrown into prison and deemed that he would be put to death.

As Valentine was awaiting execution, he fell in love with a blind girl, who happened to be the jailers daughter. On the eve of his execution, with no writing instruments available, Valentine is said to have written her a sonnet in ink that he squeezed from violets. Legend has it that his words made the blind woman see again. It was a brief romance because the next day Valentine was clubbed to death by Roman executioners.

St. Valentine gave his life so that young couples could be bonded together in holy matrimony. They may have killed the man, but not his spirit. Even centuries after his death, the story of Valentine’s self-sacrificing commitment to love was legendary in Rome. Eventually he was granted Sainthood and the Catholic Church decided to create a feast in his honor. They picked February 14 as the day of celebration because of the ancient belief that birds (particularly lovebirds, but also owls and doves) began to mate on that very day.

It’s surprising to know that Valentine’s Day is really founded on the concept of love in marriage. On this Valentine’s Day, what are you doing to keep the love in your marriage burning? While giving a gift and card, having a candlelight dinner, and sharing special words of love are all important, the true spirit of Valentine’s Day needs to last throughout the year.

So, on this Valentine’s Day.I like to ask you.will you be my Valentine. I don’t promise to you.stars and moon, I know that the life ahead is not going to be a bed of roses.but I promise that I will keep you happy. I will not give tears to your eyes. I will be true and faithful to you. I wish you to walk with me, in this journey of life.together.holding hands. I want to hug you tight.close to my heart.so that nothing can harm you. so, will you be my valentine.not for today.not for one year.but for my life.till the time I breathe my last.
I know that you think that I don’t even mean a single word I say. but it’s only words and words are all I have to take your heart away. this world has lost its glory let’s start a brand new story now my love. (Words.BoyZone)

I love you.for what you are and as you are.with all that you have.with your past and present.with your good and bad qualities.with your strengths and weaknesses. For me I love you is not just a sentence.for me every I love you is a promise, a commitment to stand by the person you love- whatever the odds, whatever the outcome, whatever the cost. Every I love you is a pact. A sworn oath to stick by each other, to be there for each other, no matter what personal sacrifice is necessary, and no matter what Consequences may befall. Every I love you has nothing to do with touches, or kisses, or sweet nothings whispered in an attentive ear.? I love you is more than all these things. It means loyalty and honor and trust without the expectation of the same in return.

Again, I know that you think that I don’t even mean a single word I say. but it’s only words and words are all I have to take your heart away. this world has lost its glory let’s start a brand new story now my love. (Words.BoyZone)

Walk with me, the path of life,to explore every bend of the road. enjoy with me the beauty of life, along its wonderful way. Find comfort with me, in each other’s arms, when grief crosses our path. Find strength with me, in each other’s strength, when despair lies in wait. Laugh with me, a single true laugh, to enlighten another’s distress. Cry with me, a single true tear, to understand true happiness. Cherish with me, the wonders of life, as they need to be preserved. Rejoice with me, in the mysteries, of what is yet to be. Find peace with me, in each other’s souls, when the world has gone insane. Find love with me, in each other’s hearts, until this life has been fulfilled. And when the path comes to an end I hope we can say from within, we’ve known the beauty of true love, our love came from within.

I know that you still think that I don’t even mean a single word I say. but it’s only words and words are all I have to take your heart away. this world has lost its glory let’s start a brand new story now my love. (Words.BoyZone)

It’s only words and words are all I have to take your heart away. this world has lost its glory let’s start a brand new story now my love. (Words.BoyZone)

With lots of love.and Care

What are good valentine day gifts apart from the usual flowers?

  • September 10, 2011 at 11:30 am

I did the chocolate thing last year, the usual flowers, also the teddy bear, and the usual cards, did the dinner; however, this year I am kind of stuck.

Lingerie & candles and rose petals in a bathtub

I would say, dress up nicely, go to a fancy, romantic resteraunt. maybe do the whole flowers, and candy, teddy bear thing, maybe go for a walk on the beach, if you're near one, or write a romantic song, if you can sing. write, or play guitar.

Dress up really sexy, give her a card with yo true feeling in it from the heart that u wrote in, cook for her and get some movies u both enjoy. Don't forget the chocolate whether u gave it to her last year or not(if she eat chocolate). we love our candy.

his the link to my questions "need help finding a gift for your love ones??"

What is something really fun and romantic to do for Valentine's Day?

  • June 27, 2011 at 11:48 am

I'm a guy and i told my girlfriend i would think of something for us to do for valentine's day. I really need some help though thinking of something that you think would be fun. I want it to be a little more exciting than a dinner and a movie. keep in mind that I live in Michigan and it's cold. Please list any ideas you can think of. thanks!

"I'm a guy and i told my girlfriend i would think of something for us to do for valentine's day."

Well apparently you lied, because you want us to do it for you.

Mirror – though a bit weird, but a mirror framed nicely and with a nicely written love can help to cement your bond. For instance, a note like – ‘The person who stole my heart’ with this gift would bring that much needed smile on your beloved’s face.

Here are some unique ideas for Vday:
http://myfashionaddictions.blogspot.com/…

You could cook dinner together. Make fun of it. You can pick a favorite appetizer, she can pick her favorite entree, and you can both decide on the dessert. it is both fun and thoughtful.

Here's my list of ideas:

1. Try to cook her a special candlelight dinner near the fireplace.

2. Give her a massage with soft relaxing music in the background.

3. slow dance to your favorite song

4. Watch a DVD movie together.

What is something really fun and romantic to do for Valentine's Day?
