Unusual Valentine Gifts for RV Lovers

Valentine Gift Backup Hitch Camer – Camping WorldSome unique Valentine gifts have been advertised recently for Valentine Day. Here are a few that might appeal to RV owners with a different sense of the romantic.

Sales emails during the leadup to Valentines Day offer some unusual gift choices of interest to the RVer. the items mentioned in this shopping guide make it easy to navigate the RV in one way or another.

Why bother with such ordinary things as perfume, chocolates, or flowers when you can give a romantic yet practical gift like one of these?

Give a Magellan GPS so Love Can Find Its Way

“if you love someone, set them free. if they come back they’re yours; if they don’t they never were.”

Magellan GPS quotes this Richard Bach line, then adds, "but how can they come back if they can’t find you? Give a Magellan GPS for Valentines Day this year."

The ad goes on to promote the Magellan RoadMate 1440 as the ideal Valentines Day Gift. Costs $179.99 USD plus S/H at magellangps.com. the unit features

  • A OneTouch™ menu
  • 4.3-inch color touch screen
  • Ultra-thin design
  • Preloaded maps and POI (points of interest) for the US and Canada

"Easy-to-use…features like AAA TourBook®, Highway Lane Assist and Spoken Street Names give you confidence on the road and deliver a powerful navigation experience."

And presumably, this or any other GPS will make any sweetheart swoon with appreciation. but hey, bundle the GPS up with a nice card, add the Bach quote and the Magellan quote, and it should be possible to get away with it.

Besides, it’s more romantic than a new toaster.

Give a Backup Camera as a Unique Valentine Day Gift

Also on the same theme is a backup hitch camera. Camping World is offering these for 25% off. It’s Catalog Item # 47686 at CampingWorld.com, currently $149.99 USD with 50% off shipping.

It’s an anniversary sale, the ad says, but the timing says Valentines Day.

This portable unit will move from one vehicle to another and offers

  • Easy mounting of both camera and color monitor
  • Four-channel wireless transmission up to 150′
  • Automatic Infrared LED lights for night vision up to 15 feet
  • Compact size (Monitor 2 3/4"H x 4"W x 1 1/4"D, Camera 3 1/2"L x 1 1/8"W x 1 1/8"H plus bracket)
  • Rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries.

Now, don’t scoff at this as a romantic gift. There’s been many a harsh word exchanged between pilot and copilot over backing a rig up to hitch on a trailer or toad or when backing on to leveling blocks. A gift like this, given from either partner to the other, could go a long way towards improving the relationship (and it also makes it possible to do these jobs solo).

Yes, these are gifts with a decidedly practical flavor and a bit different as Valentine gifts, but to quote Richard Bach again, “every gift from a friend is a wish for your happiness.”

Romance is what you make it.

Other Practical RV Gifts Suitable for Valentines Day

If practical gifts are the goal (maybe the rig is the sweetheart?) consider one of these:
