MILFORD — Bright sunshine and packed football stadiums greeted the 253 Joseph a. Foran and 204 Jonathan Law high school graduates as they made their way onto their respective school’s field for Monday’s commencement activities.Valedictorian Andrew Fowler and Salutatorian Raymond Arnold led Law’s ceremony, while Foran’s graduates were led by Valedictorian Roshni Patel and Salutatorian Rebecca Giden.Arnold said the graduation wasn’t just a celebration of an ending, it was the joy of a new beginning.Fowler said four years ago they all entered Law where they created one class and made many wonderful memories.“we have learned to set goals and to reach for the stars, and we must distinguish between what is right and what is easy,” Fowler said.Fowler used a quotation of Beatle George Harrison: “If you don’t know where you’re going, any road can take you there.”Patel told her classmates, “Each and every experience we’ve had in high school, both good and bad, has molded us into the person we are.” She also said next year affords each student the ability to start with a clean slate.“No doubt next year will bring with it opportunities and with it new experiences,” Patel said.Giden said in preparing to write her speech she realized music connects everyone.“it is our escape and it is more instinctual than any other form of expression can be,” Giden said.“we always have the music that got us here,” Giden said.Foran Principal John Barile said the seniors have overcome the swine flu, floods and construction inconveniences. He said they became the first graduating class not to have a senior prank. Barile also said students ensured he remained in good graces with his wife on Valentine’s Day by sending her two dozen roses.Law Principal Janet Garagliano said advice the upperclassmen wish to leave to underclassmen includes: “Have fun, be successful and respect others and yourself.”
