Jamie Foxx has spent the last two years lying low with supporting character parts in films like due Date, Valentine’s Day, and the upcoming Horrible Bosses, but he’s now circling one of the most high-profile leads in town, the title role in Quentin Tarantino’s slave western Django Unchained. It’s a part that Tarantino originally approached will Smith for, but since the Men in Black actor couldn’t commit, Foxx is now entering talks. Though he’ll no doubt be fine in the role, we’re going to miss the pop frisson that casting Smith (or another Django contender, M.I.A. actor Chris Tucker) would have provided. still, onwards!
