Be My Valentine – Gifts That Say I Love You

  • September 19, 2011 at 8:10 pm

Women cannot help but become romantic on special occasions like Valentine’s Day. for the woman with the man of her dreams in her life then much is expected. If you are already married or living together this is a perfect opportunity to rekindle any lost romance or fire in your relationship.

Surprise her at the workplace

Grand gestures of a bouquet of flowers or a box of chocolate sent to the workplace always makes a big statement especially if she is one of the few or the only one to receive these at her office. She will be the envy of every girl. Include on your gift card plans for the evening and you would be an absolute star. If you cannot do dinner then take her to lunch instead.

Dinner for Two

Plans for the evening could include a quiet dinner at home or dinner at a fancy restaurant. If you are staying in then ensure you do the cooking or order in (a proper meal including dessert please) and remember to set the table, scatter some rose buds and have your dinner by candle light.

If there are kids then get them to bed early or to a grand parent or get a sitter in and go out for dinner. If you are going out for dinner, ensure you make dinner reservations way in advance as joining a queue at a restaurant in the hope of getting a table is not romantic.

The evening must be well planned for the memories to be treasured. No matter how popular the restaurant or great the meal, the long wait in her heels and hunger pangs will be the first thing she remembers about the night. So plan ahead down to ordering the taxi in advance if you are going by taxi as it will be a busy night for taxi drivers.

Diamonds are a girl’s best friend. But she will still look like a million bucks in handcrafted jewellery gifts using Swarovski crystals and pearls. She will love you even more for a one of a kind piece. Look for semi precious stone jewellery collections that are unique.

Add glamour, glitter and style to her wardrobe with handcrafted jewellery gifts that combines rock crystals, swarovski crystal, amethyst, onyx, lava stone and silver. Women like to know that you have made an effort and put some thought into their gift rather than buying the first thing you spotted in a jewellery store.

A stunning piece of jewellery which makes a statement each time she wears it, is priceless. The compliments she receive translates into plus points for you. It will be like Valentine’s Day all over again each time she is complimented on the statement jewellery her loved one thoughtfully bought her.

Remember some handcrafted jewellery must be ordered in advance. Alternatively purchase a gift voucher from an online boutique or jeweller and have your lady choose what she desires most.

How can a single woman celebrate Valentine's Day without getting sad that she has no partner to celebrate with?

How can a single lady celebrate Valentine's Day?

I don't have a boyfriend or husband so I have no partner to celebrate Valentine's Day with.

What are some fun activities I can do to celebrate Valentine's Day?

How can I celebrate Valentine's Day without getting sad?

Do some clubs and bars cater to single women on Valentine's Day?

it's funny, but feb 14 is also known as Singles Awareness Day (SAD) and depending on where you are, they will probably have a huge party with other singes.

this would be a great chance for you to meet others too maybe! or even hook up with someone hehe.

alternatively, check up a few things here
http://gifts4valentineday.com/amazon.html
and maybe treat yourself to a chocolate set hehe. nothing beats gorging a box of chocolates by yourself.

um …i dont really think its a wise idea to celbarte it as its aimed at couples and if u celebrate it then isnt that kind of depressing?
on the other hand my church does give out gifts and have dinners for those who are singles but hey im christian lol.
if u want clubs then well i wouldn't of thought so as there is money in celebrating couples for valentines not singles.
good luck and god bless with that though hope god blesses you with a good brotha that will treat you with the respect you deserve.

valentines day is just another day. do what you would normaly do. its not really a big deal unless you make it one.

Have out with some of your friends (none that are boys). or go to a spa. just enjoy being single :)

have a party with some girlfriends, thats what im doing!

Dan is good with his hands. When he takes on the job for the lovely Jane he figures it is his lucky day. BUT he has never worked for someone as fussy and demanding as his new employer. Every time she opens her mouth she insults him. After the first day he is ready to strangle her.

Valentine’s treats

  • June 26, 2011 at 7:24 pm

Treat your valentine to an arty weekend at River Market.

The market, at Westminster Quay, is holding a Valentine’s-themed Fall In love With River Market day on Sunday, Feb. 13.

Among the treats, you can pop by the new West Artists exhibition on the second floor, open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The artists’ group, which was profiled in the Feb. 5 Record, has just recently started up in the city, and this is its first exhibition – all works will be priced for under $100. (I plan to pop in this weekend, so I’ll report back.)

At 11 a.m., the Vancouver Circus School is offering a couples intro class for $50 per couple, running till 12:30 p.m. to register, call 604-544-5024 or e-mail info@vancouvercircusschool.ca. That’s on the second floor.

On the first floor, you can enjoy the music of the Creole Jazz Band from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. or take part in Valentine’s crafts during the same time period.

Businesses at the market are also getting in on the fun -there will be sweetheart tea from the great Wall Tea Company from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., chocolate demos at Donald’s Market from 3 to 6 p.m. and half-price appies at the Paddlewheeler Pub from 4:30 to 10 p.m.

Check out www.rivermarket.ca for more.

ENJOY a MUSICAL FUNDRAISING LUNCH

If you saw the Feb. 9 Record, you’ll know that new Westminster Secondary School is staging Grease as its musical production this year – it’s on at Massey Theatre Feb. 24, 25 and 26.

What you may not know is that it’s no small financial undertaking to put on such a production – in fact, costs for staging a musical can run into tens of thousands.

And, with an estimated price tag of $40,000 for Grease, the school can use a little help from its friends.

On Thursday, Feb. 17, Moonrakers pub is hosting a musical luncheon between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The pub will donate $5 from every meal to the school’s fine arts department, and some cast members will be on hand at 12:15 to perform songs from the play.

“Our customers are active in the community, and this is a way for everyone to enjoy a great lunch, a terrific show and contribute to a very worthwhile cause,” said Mike McKee, general manager of Moonrakers, in a press release.

You can make a reservation by calling the pub at 604-522-9010.

And, if you missed the preview story about Grease, check it out online (www.royalcityrecord.com, under the Entertainment tab).

The students are so enthusiastic, and there’s so much talent in the huge cast, that it’s just bound to be an outstanding show.

Valentine's Day Help: How can I figure out which type of chocolate my girlfriend prefers?

  • June 26, 2011 at 1:24 pm

I'm getting my girlfriend a box of chocolates for Valentine's Day, but I can't remember which type she likes: Dark or Milk. I'm sure she's told me before. help me figure out which she likes in a discreet way.

well its a little late to find out, next time make sure you ask her ahead atime and REMEMBER.
but you could always ask one of her freinds.
It's a little hard even discreatly to ask her that, just because valentine's day is tomorrow.

Valentine’s Day – Courtney – GradDate.net

  • June 22, 2011 at 12:24 am

My membership to numerous dating sites aside, I’m pretty okay being single. Even around Valentine’s Day.

Sure, all the hearts and cupid decorations remind me that I’ve been single for a long, long time. Would I rather put on a nice dress and go out for dinner with a handsome beau? Of course.  am I at all upset that I will be spending this Valentine’s Day at work and then seeing my cousin’s show and heading home to my own bed? Not even a little bit.

Being single is as bad as you let it be.  I can buy myself chocolate and flowers (and you’d better believe I will be) and I can tell my friends and the people who are there for me that I love them.  I don’t have to stress about presents or dates or putting on a dress for Valentine’s Day. And that’s FINE.

In college, some girls in the class above me threw a Valentine’s Day party every year. it was always great fun, and everyone showed up.  the couples usually left a bit early to attend their own- ahem- after party, so by the end of the night, it was all of the fantastic single gals and girls dancing and laughing and enjoying themselves.  I’m not going to lie when I say that I always considered us singletons the lucky ones.

So all you folks in relationships, I wish you a happy Valentine’s Day.  And all of you singles who may or may not be celebrating S.A.D, or Singles Awareness Day, I hope you find a good group to go dancing with.
