Cindy’s Fourth Anniversary Poem

  • September 20, 2011 at 5:50 pm

Our fourth anniversary will arrive on September 16th, 2011. What to get? how to celebrate? I’m really not sure yet, because I’ve procrastinated once again But one thing I know for sure: Material gifts, although nice, are fleeting; so in addition, you must find a way to express the true love that’s in your heart (And no, I’m not trying to get out of buying an anniversary gift). To that end, I wanted to use my creativity, and I decided to write a poem. Although poem writing might seem daunting, I had one good thing going for me: I had done it once before. Last February I wrote a Valentine’s Day poem for my wife, and she loved it so, I thought I’d try again. Words and rhyming phrases didn’t come easily this time, but-after a few failed attempts-I created something I think she’ll love. At least I hope so Here it is:

A Fourth Anniversary Poem

Four years have passed since first we wed,
Sealing our vows with a kiss.
With friends and family gathered ’round,
To celebrate our bliss.

Not gold nor silver, even wood,
Tradition says is fitting.
But no tradition ever found,
A gift to do my bidding.

For I found a gem, my lovely wife,
More precious than the rest.
And every year that she is mine,
Will always be my best.

So love of mine, my love so fair,
Let’s celebrate our fourth.
Renew our love, renew our vows,
With passion, zeal and warmth.

No lucky man, alive today,
Could ever wish for more.
I love you dear, on this our fourth,
I will forever more

Well, I really hope she loves it, because it expresses exactly how I feel my wife Cindy is my soul mate, and she brightens my spirit every day. Now, about that material gift.
